CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS

The strongest deletion right in the country is free. Use it.

We will walk you through it and charge you nothing, even though it overlaps with what we sell. If that seems like a strange thing for a business to do, it is the clearest way we know to show that the rest of what we say is true too.

What DROP is

The Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, run by the California Privacy Protection Agency under the Delete Act. One request from you reaches every data broker registered in the state — around 614 of them.

Since 1 August 2026 those brokers are legally required to check the platform at least every 45 days and process verified deletion requests, with penalties for failing to. It opened to consumers on 1 January 2026 and it costs nothing.

How you use it

  1. 1. Create your own account with the CPPA.
  2. 2. Verify that you live in California.
  3. 3. Submit your deletion request.
  4. 4. Refresh it periodically — brokers keep collecting, so one filing is not permanent.

If you have an account with us, we track which step you are on and remind you when a refresh is due. We do not ask for, hold or type your CPPA login. It is a government identity platform and that is a line we do not go near.

What DROP does not do

This is the part we are paid for, and it is worth being precise about.

  • It only reaches brokers that registered with the state. Plenty of people-search sites never did.
  • It is California only. The other 49 states need their own instrument.
  • It gives you no proof. Nobody checks whether the broker actually deleted anything.
  • It does not watch for your record coming back between cycles.
  • It does not touch search results, cached pages, or anything that is not a registered broker.
