What we can't remove
Every service in this category can take records off people-search sites. None of us can touch the list below — and most of the marketing in this industry is carefully worded to avoid saying so.
If you are paying anyone to make you unfindable, you are being sold something that does not exist. Here is the honest boundary.
Court records
Filings, judgments, bankruptcies and criminal records are public by law. Courts publish them and aggregators copy them. Neither we nor anyone else can delete the source.
INSTEAD In some states a record can be sealed or expunged through the court itself. If that happens, the copies become removable — and we can then file against the aggregators that still show it.
Property deeds and tax records
County recorders publish who owns what. It is a public register and removal is not a thing that exists.
INSTEAD Future purchases can sometimes be held in a trust or an LLC. That is a question for a lawyer, not for us, and it does nothing about what is already recorded.
Voter registration
Public in most states, with varying rules about who can request the file.
INSTEAD A few states allow confidential status for people at demonstrable risk — usually survivors of stalking or domestic violence, through a state address-confidentiality programme.
Professional licences
Licence registers for doctors, lawyers, contractors, nurses and dozens of other professions are public on purpose, so the public can check them.
INSTEAD Nothing. This one is working as intended.
News archives and anything published about you
A newspaper is not a data broker. Removal is an editorial decision for the publisher, and almost always no.
INSTEAD Search-engine de-indexing occasionally applies, and is narrow in the US. Anyone promising to scrub news coverage is selling something they cannot deliver.
Background-check databases, credit bureaus and insurance registries
This is the important one, and the one the category is quietest about. LexisNexis, the credit bureaus and the insurance-industry registries hold far more about you than any people-search site, and they are regulated under a framework that gives them a right to hold it. No removal service can opt you out of them.
INSTEAD You have real rights here, they are just different rights: you can request your file, dispute what is wrong in it, and freeze your credit. Those are the tools that actually apply, and they are free.
Anything you have posted publicly yourself
Social profiles, forum posts, a personal site. We will not log into your accounts and we will not impersonate you.
INSTEAD We will tell you where we found it so you can take it down yourself.
And one thing we can't promise
That your spam will stop. Broker records are one supply line into your phone and inbox, and cutting it is worth doing — but breaches, apps and companies you have actually dealt with are others, and we cannot reach those. People judge this whole category by their spam volume because it is the only signal they have. It is the wrong signal, and we would rather say that before you pay than after.
