How to remove your home address from Google search results
This is the highest-leverage free action available to most people, and it takes about ten minutes. It does not delete anything from the website publishing your address — it removes the result from Google, which is how essentially everyone finds things.

The steps
Do these in order
- 01Open Results about you in your Google accountGo to myactivity.google.com/results-about-you and sign in. This is Google's own dashboard for this purpose and it is free.
- 02Add the contact details you want monitoredEnter your name, home address, phone number and email address. Google will scan its index for results containing them and alert you when new ones appear.
- 03Review what it findsYou will get a list of results exposing your details. Most will be people-search sites. Request removal on each one.
- 04Submit anything it missed manuallyThe scan is not exhaustive. Search your own name, address and phone number in quotes in a logged-out private window, and submit anything else you find through the same tool.
- 05Also request removal of ID numbers if exposedSince February 2026 the tool also covers government-issued ID numbers — passport, driver's licence, Social Security. If any of those are exposed anywhere, this is urgent rather than routine.
- 06Then deal with the sourceDelisting from Google is a bandage on a real wound: the page is still live and still indexed by other engines. Remove yourself from the underlying broker as well.
What goes wrong
- Searching while logged in shows you personalised results, not what a stranger sees. Always use a private window.
- Delisting does not remove the page. If someone has the URL, or uses Bing, they still find it.
- New results appear as brokers refresh, so keep the monitoring on.
The honest limit
Google will not delist news articles, court records or most public-record pages. The tool is aimed at contact details, not at reputation.
