Authorised agent authorisation

What the authorisation grants

Specifically and only the following, on your behalf:

• Submitting requests to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, and limit use of sensitive personal information, under any applicable state privacy law.
• Submitting requests through California's Deletion Request and Opt-out Platform where you are a California resident.
• Submitting file-disclosure requests and disputes to consumer reporting agencies under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, where you have a Fair Chance plan.
• Receiving and reviewing the responses to those requests, including your own consumer file.
• Following up, escalating and refiling where a request is ignored or denied.

What it does not grant

Explicitly excluded, so there is no ambiguity:

• Any authority to enter agreements, incur obligations or make payments in your name.
• Any authority to act for any person other than you.
• Any authority to alter, conceal or misrepresent a factual record.
• Any general power of attorney over your affairs.
• Any authority to initiate litigation on your behalf. Where a claim exists we refer you to counsel and you decide.

Verification

Businesses receiving an agent request may require proof that you gave the agent signed permission, and may require you to verify your identity with them directly or confirm the authorisation. We provide the signed authorisation as a matter of course and will tell you when a broker asks you to confirm directly.

Under California law, some of these separate verification requirements do not apply where the consumer has granted the agent a power of attorney. We do not require one, and we will explain the trade-off if a broker's process makes it relevant.

Revocation

You can revoke this authorisation at any time, in writing or from your dashboard, with immediate effect on any request not yet submitted. Requests already filed cannot be recalled, though we will tell any recipient that the authorisation has been withdrawn if you ask us to.
